Answer the following question:

In your opinion, which is the best source of electrical energy?  Be sure to describe how your chosen source is transformed into electricity.  State why it is better than the others.

(about two pages 14 pt font)

Remember that the sources of energy we have discussed in class are:

Oil is a fossil fuel. Most of the oil extracted today has been formed from prehistoric organisms whose remains settled at the bottoms of oceans and lakes millions of years ago.

Coal contains energy that the plants absorbed from the sun millions of years ago.

Biomass is a fancy name for material from plants and animals. Some kinds of biomass can be burned to produce energy. One common example is wood.

Solar energy is, simply, energy provided by the sun. This energy is in the form of solar radiation, which makes the production of solar electricity possible. Electricity can be produced directly from photovoltaic, PV, cells.

Wind energy requires turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks (such as grinding grain or pumping water) or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity to power homes, businesses, schools...

Hydroelectricity is the term referring to electricity generated by hydropower; the production of electrical power through the use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water.

Nuclear power plants use fission to make electricity. By splitting uranium atoms into two smaller atoms, the extra energy is released as heat.

(old assignment)

Answer the following question:

How do we effect the environment when we conserve energy?

In your answer be sure to talk about the forms of energy we use, the sources of energy, and how we transform energy from one form into another.

Expectations:

-Give your essay an appropriate title.

-use information we have seen online and read about in class
